Mary Luckham - Jewellery
Mary Luckham is a jeweller for whom silver has always been her favourite precious metal - first of all the wear and later to work with.
I began by taking a silversmithing course at St. Martin’s - became hooked - so took some additional jewellery making courses more locally. I work with Sterling silver and a variety of semi-precious stones and freshwater pearls to make unique jewellery and figurines.
Silver is beautiful on its own but can also provide a stunning backdrop which sets off whatever you want to put with it. Whether that be precious or semi-precious stones, pearls, glass or anything else.
My aim is to make pieces which are easy to wear whether they are of a classic design or rather more organic and freestyle in nature. I like to experiment with textures and shapes - textured silver catches the light beautifully.
Precious metal items over a certain weight must be officially hallmarked. Anything I make which requires this (and some that don’t) will have been hallmarked at the assay office London
